The Governor’s Office of Workforce Development and the Georgia Department of Labor are calling all veterans, spouses and their dependents seeking employment to join in the Georgia Jobs for Veterans Career Expo on Thursday, November 8 at the Georgia World Congress Center. The expo will begin at 10:00 am and close at 2:00 pm. While the expo is designed for veterans, it is open to the general public.
An estimated 300 Georgia companies will host booths at the expo, with members of their human resources staff providing details on job openings.
The expo will include an Event Orientation Session for all participants where GDOL staff will screen and mentor veteran job seekers as they navigate the application process with participating employers. This orientation will help the job seeker become familiar with the floor plan and process of the expo.
Employers will have the option to place the job seekers on a special consideration list for an on-site interview. The expo will have a designated area for the interviews to take place.
The event will also feature partner agencies services and resources to veterans including US Department of Labor, Department of Veterans Affairs, the Georgia Department of Veterans Service, local Workforce Investment Areas, Employment Services for Guard and Reserve and others.
A computer lab will be available and staffed for job seeking veterans to prepare and edit their resumes. Also continuous workshops will be conducted on site covering topics that include career planning and employability skills.
