This past summer GDEcD and the Georgia Chamber spent a lot of time traveling throughout the state for regional strategy sessions in which we were seeking input for Governor Deal’s economic development initiative, the Georgia Competitiveness Initiative. You may already know that the Competitiveness Initiative is about discovering where the jobs of the future are coming from and ensuring we’re on the right track to bring them to Georgia. We’re looking at the state’s strategic industries as well as the business factors that enable us to stay competitive in any industry: things like workforce development, government efficiency, and transportation and logistics infrastructure.
We had terrific attendance and feedback from the business community in each and every region, and appreciate all of you who took time from your busy days to attend. The Carl Vinson School of Government at UGA compiled all the information and the results were presented to the steering committee earlier this month. They go now to the Governor, and look forward to rolling out the results statewide over the next few months. Stay tuned!
